Bangla Noboborsho Celebration at NIPS Hotel Management Institution

NIPS Hospitality Group celebrated Bangla Noboborsho with a Cooking Contest “Be The Chefstar” on 12th April, 2019, at Elysian Banquets, NIPS Kolkata Campus, to encourage the budding culinary artists and recognize their talents. The competition witnessed talents from varied walks of life, where they showcased their creativity.

The esteemed panel of judges included three times Best Chef of the Year winner, Celebrity Chef Joseph Uttam Gomes;Winner of Best Female Chef of the Year, 2018, Chef Madhumita Mohanta, Executive Chef, Lalit Great Eastern; and renowned food journalist and food critic, Ms. Panchali Dutta.

The guest list was augmented by the presence of eminent personalities like Joint editor, Aajkal, Mr. Rajib Ghish; fahion designer, Mr. Promit Mukherjee; CEO, Reality Design Private Ltd., Ms. Urvasi Basu; dancer, choreographer and social worker, Ms. Indrani Ganguly; and poet and author Susmeli Dutt.
Participants dished up their favourite dishes and presented before the judges. The creations were judged on taste, creativity and innovativeness. The heterogenous group of participants presented a gamut of dishes like Bajra ki khichdi, murg angara, kasha maangsho spaghetti, mango pudding with stuffed rosogulla, chicken pancake medley, and so on.

In addition to this NIPS also gave the participants an oppurtunity to indulge into some of the upcoming workshops to be conducted in future on Culinary, Bakery, Bartending and even etiquttes, which are open to all.

Urbi Banerjee bagged the first prize for “Khaati Bangalee’r Noboborsher Maha Bhoj”; Soham Ghosh’s Stuffed Chicken helped him bag the 2nd prize, while Hemkonika Payesh, prepared by Mistumee Banerjee won the 3rd prize.

The fun filled event was peppered with a number of fun games like ‘Guess the weight’, ‘Reverse’, ‘Chop! Chop!Chop!’ ,‘Identify the spices’, and so on.
